The resolution granting temporary protection to displaced persons from Ukraine with the granting of a residence permit for a period of one year with the possibility of extension was published on Tuesday by Portuguese Government.

According to the resolution, a residence permit is automatically granted, for a period of one year, with the possibility of extension of the respective title, with the necessary adaptations, to nationals of Ukraine and their family members, coming from their country of origin.

It is also established that applications covered by the resolution can be made in person or digitally, inside or outside the national territory.

According to the resolution, the statement proving the request for temporary protection is communicated by the SEF to Social Security, the Tax and Customs Authority and the Shared Services of the Ministry of Health for the purpose of automatic allocation of the social security identification number, tax identification number and national user number, respectively. The declaration is also communicated to the Institute of Employment and Vocational Training for registration purposes.

As of today, SEF will also make available in its delegations and CNAIM (National Centre of Support for the Integration of Migrants), service counters exclusively for Ukrainian citizens, operating between 8.30am and 8pm.
