Sofia Quental, Managing Associate of Valadas Coriel & Associados (“VCA”), has recently been appointed as a qualified tax arbitrator to “CAAD”, the Portuguese Administrative and Tax Arbitration Centre, where she is listed to participate in tax matters, namely Income Tax, Value Added Tax and International Tax Law.

Before joining VCA in 2015, Sofia Quental worked, for almost 9 years, as a tax consultant at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) where she acquired specific abilities in the tax disputes and procedures, tax planning, contingency and opportunities diagnostics areas, IVA e IEC´s matters for clients both national and international. She was also a tax consultant at PwC in Dublin, where she developed products for tax counsel and international groups, and she was a tax consultant at PwC in Madrid, where she developed tax planning and counsel in matters of IVA and IRC for international groups.
Sofia Quental holds a Law Degree (Universidade Lusíada de Lisboa) and two Postgraduate Degrees: in Tax Law (Instituto Superior de Gestão de Lisboa) and in Theory and Practical Tax Law Litigation (Instituto de Direito Económico, Financeiro e Fiscal da Faculdade de Direito de Lisboa).

CAAD is a centre for decision-making, information and knowledge in arbitration matters at the service of the State, citizens and companies, which is the entity, at a national level, authorised to promote the resolution of disputes in administrative and tax matters.
