Martim Sarmento joined VCA in May 2026 as an Associate in the Litigation, Labour, and Insolvency Department. He advises clients across civil, commercial and employment disputes, insolvency proceedings and credit recovery, supporting the full lifecycle of litigation — from pre-contentious strategy through to enforcement.

Before joining VCA, Martim was a Lead Lawyer at GPA – Gouveia Pereira & Associados, where he managed complex litigation across civil, criminal and enforcement proceedings, insolvency, credit recovery and labour law. Prior to that, he trained and practised as an Associate at JPAB – José Pedro Aguiar Branco & Associados, gaining broad exposure to contentious matters and corporate advisory within multidisciplinary teams. His professional background reflects a consistent focus on dispute resolution and a hands-on approach to case management and client relations.

Martim holds a Master’s degree in Corporate Law and a Law degree from Universidade Católica Portuguesa – Lisbon School, and has pursued further postgraduate training in areas including law enforcement and corporate compliance, civil liability, and road traffic accident liability. He has a particular interest in civil liability and corporate law.

Beyond his legal practice, Martim is President of the General Assembly of the Portuguese Association for Missing Children, reflecting a long-standing commitment to social and youth-related causes.
